In a move I’d like to see more of, my web host, Krystal Hosting, recently announced that their Netwise datacentre is now powered entirely by renewable energy. That officially makes this a green website powered by wind, sun (and soon) sea – with a significantly reduced footprint on precious spaceship earth. This is one of the first of its kind, by the sound of it, and I’m extremely proud to play a small part of it.
I’m a big believer in living the change you want to see. That’s why I’ve been a customer of Good Energy for over five years, and put a little bit aside every month to support renewable energy investment projects, especially community-minded ones, on Abundance.
So in a way, when you hire me as your freelance copywriter or event photographer in Leeds (and now by visiting this website) – you’re also helping tackle the existential threat of climate change.
But it’s not just sensible purchasing choices that make a big difference. Other little lifestyle tweaks help the planet too – like eating less meat and using public transport or walking and cycling, instead of owning a car. Being green isn’t all about lentils and plaiting your own yoghurt. It feels nice and it’s good for your health, and everyone else’s too.
(Yes – I’m a bit of a hippy).
